Robert Hunter

Tampa, Florida Professional Headshot & Portrait Photographer

That’s me, Robert Hunter and this photo is from the time I decided to take my own headshot.

A little bit about me

It started with a Polaroid.

Headshot & Portrait Photographer — Tallahassee, FL

Growing up in Columbus, Ohio, a four-year-old Robert Hunter begged his parents to let him use their new instant camera. From the moment he pressed that shutter, something clicked — both literally and figuratively. The fascination never left.

In 1999, Robert briefly stepped in front of the lens himself, pursuing a modeling career. But he quickly discovered his real passion lay behind the camera. He purchased his first professional camera, enrolled in photography courses, and in 2012, Robert Hunter Photography officially opened its doors.

Photography wasn't Robert's only calling. In 2004, he joined the Florida Legislature, building a career in policy and administration. Then, in 2017, the two worlds converged: he was named one of the official staff photographers for the Florida House of Representatives — documenting the people, proceedings, and moments that shape Florida's history from the inside. He served in that role through late 2021.

Today, Robert splits his time between his own portrait and headshot clients across Tallahassee and North Florida, and his ongoing career in the IT Department of the Florida Legislature. Whether he's in the studio or out on location, his focus is always the same: creating an image that genuinely represents you at your very best.

"I really love it when a client sees their headshot and their face lights up. And I'll be honest — I secretly do a fist pump every time I check back three or four years later and that image is still their profile picture."

That reaction is everything.

It's why Robert shows up fully prepared for every session, and why his clients keep coming back.
